Old Friends ......

Jayne Nestorenko is bringing out some new Christmas stamps at the end of the month, so just couldn’t resist revisiting some old friends!

I’d love to say this was an easy card to make – but that would be a lie.

Everything seemed to go wrong, it’s been a while since I’ve done so much cutting out and decoupage – but hey think I’ve salvaged it and the characters are just so magical!

Stamps -  Jayne Nestorenko – Caring, Playing and Christmas Delights.

The first thing I had to do was stamp the snowman onto a piece of coated card then mask it. Then I stamped the sign post slightly behind the snow man and masked that as well. With both masks in place I brayered the sky in Adirondack Wild Plum and then around the top and edges in Stonewashed. I had to be careful to leave some white sky on the horizon so I could stamp the trees in Bottle without getting pink snow!

I glittered and coloured the sign post and snow man and left them to dry while I worked on the front characters. They were stamped on Centura pearl (the wrong side) card and coloured and glittered before cutting out. I rolled the cut out characters over a paint brush to get a slight curve before attaching them to the card with foam squares. The sentiment seemed to sum the picture up – everything was matted onto silver mirri card to finish it off.

I punched the snowflakes from coloured card and glittered up before sticking with glue and I used some ice crystals on the snow.

Et voila ! Phew so much planning and thinking trying to remember which bit to do before another -  I need to lie down in a darkened room now :-) ...... x

I do

Had to be done! Someone saw the cupcake card and put in a request for an OTT wedding card........so here it is. Took ages but it was a good learning curve – improving techniques for fixing the flowers and lace on etc. Also I think what I have struggled with before is making cards which may not be exactly my taste, don’t get me wrong I like this card but it is very different to what I have been doing. So I’m embracing difference and will probably make more in this style (and many other styles) – because while I’ve been thinking I need to find my style I actually need to do many styles to suit different people.

Stamps – LOTV ‘I Do’ and a sentiment stamp from their set 8 ‘Happy Circular Sentiments’. I also stamped and embossed a butterfly onto acetate from the Crafters Companion ’Lavender Flower Fairy’. The LOTV stamp was coloured with Promarkers, glittered and then Liquid Pearls added as confetti.

Dies – Spellbinders Lacy Circle, 2 sizes one for the picture and one for the sentiment.

Background – Maya Designs Vintage Summer matted onto a linen finish gold card. Maya is from a website I’ve found called Live and Love Crafts – which unfortunately has so many gorgeous things I just had to get a few other bits lol !
Embellishments - Flowers from Wild Orchard Crafts, pearls and lace from Joanne Sheen.

Thanks for looking x

Playing

Well we're well into September now, how are we all doing with our Christmas cards?!
Starting to panic a little so thought I'd have a go at one with less stamping and colouring to try and and make a quick card. Mind you my quick  card making can still take me a while - thought I would be getting a bit faster by now, but no!
Using dies has made things a bit easier but I'm still practising so I reckon this card took me a couple of hours to do. Very often though it's waiting for things to dry that takes the time up.

Stamps - Jayne Nestorenko 'Playing' from her Christmas Adorables range. I stamped the little girl first and made a mask for her before stamping the trees from the same set of stamps, for which I used Adirondack ink pad in bottle. I coloured her with promarkers and then glittered the fur parts. This bauble was mounted using foam pads to make it stand away from the other one.

Dies - Memory Box, La Rue and Drop Ornaments; Spellbinders, Create a Flake Four ; Marianne for the sentiment. The left bauble was done by using the Drop Ornament to cut a piece of backing paper from Jayne's Christmas Adorables CD and then by overlaying the La Rue Ornament cut out in mirri board. The snowflakes are simply done using 2 different sizes laid one on top of the other.

Background - Hunkdory snowflake card matted onto silver mirri board.

Well onwards and upwards - got a few specials to do and try and fit in Christmas cards when I can!

Happy Saturday x

Super Striker

Thought I'd catch up with some more birthdays I need to do. Here's one for my Grandson Harvey which is coming up next month. He's an avid Arsenal fan so I had to do some research on their current strip to try and make it more personal for him.

Talking of personal I am loving the new Memory Box Alpabet dies, they do various typesets in both upper and lower cases - and you can use up all your scraps as you can do a letter at a time! Also couldn't believe how cheap they were compared to many others. Well worth looking at, I get mine from Oyster Stamps in Rochester who have an online shop on the web. I have used Joanna Sheen as well for this make of die but she doesn't seem to have as big a range as Oyster.

Stamp - LOTV Super Striker, coloured with promarkers

Backing Papers - Jayne Nestorenko's Summer Stories, Adorables and Cute Companions CDs

Dies - Spellbinders Labels Three, and Memory Box Alphabet

Well it's been a year now since I took early retirement and I have to say I love it! Dear Geoffie is taking me out for a lovely meal at my favourite restaurant to celebrate - hurrah xx

Never too old for cupcakes !

Well I saw this stamp from Lili of The Valley, combining a fairy and a cupcake, and knew exactly who would love it.

I really like some of the cards shown on the LOTV blog but felt they were a bit over the top at times for me. Decided to do a toned down version but still using flowers, lace and bling. I think it's just about right for a girlie girl!

In posts from now I will try and put a bit more detail on what I've used to make each card.

Stamp: LOTV 'Never too old for cupcakes'.  Coloured with promarkers, glittered and blinged.
Dies: Memory Box Alphabet and Spellbinders Lacey Circles
Backing Papers : from Summer Stories CD by Jayne Nestorenko
Lace : Joanna Sheen
Bling : Hobbycraft
Flowers: from my stash.

Unfortunately I took the photo before the glue had dried properly around the letters - it's gone now it has dried!

Well that's it for now, hope you like it - happy weekend x
