JustRite Stamps - Butterflies

This card was made using white linen card stock. I embossed the corner with an old folder I had and then stamped the wording (Whisper Secrets) - such lovely words don't you think? We had some sunshine today so I thought this was so appropriate in the hope that spring is on it's way.

I stamped the butterfly on a separate piece of card using a set called Butterfly Kisses and then coloured with my alcohol pens, when dry I gave it a couple of coats of clear Wink of Stella for some extra bling! Cut out and shaped, it is mounted on foam pads. Quite a simple design but I thought it looked quite effective?

Just a quick post for Friday - hope you all have a lovely weekend! x

Love Grows (Where my Rosemary Goes) ...........

Couldn't resist entering this month's challenge for Lili of The Valley, when I bought this stamp I immediately started singing 'Love grows where my Rosemary goes..........' - so with a Name That Tune theme I had to have a go with it!

Used - LOTV stamp with sentiment 'Love Grows', alcohol pens, distress ink Tumbled Glass,  Petal Fresh papers , Spellbinders Classic Ovals Dies and Memory Box Dies Delightful Heart Borders,  Caserta Bloom and Pinwheel Posy.

Entering - Lili of the Valley February Challenge - Name That Tune

Still humming that darn song now! The song has a personal  story behind it too for us as my husband was in one of the bands that auditioned for the song -  the songwriters Macauley and Mason  wanted a band  behind their front man Tony Burrows for Top of the Pops as they were so sure it was going to be a hit! So off he went with the rest of the guys one cold December day in 1969 to a pub on the Tottenham Court Road, did their songs and went home. They didn't become Edison Lighthouse but it's a good story in his portfolio of life experiences.

Thanks for looking and for following me! x

Tag Group - Number 1 February 2014

A few of us crafty friends have got together to form a 'Tag Swap', which is great fun! The first theme is book titles and here's my tag -

Now I can hear some of you scratching your heads saying 'what book title is that?' lol - if you can't guess it's called Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon, a part of her The Outlander series. So out came Tim Holtz Classics No 1 stamp set which has this lovely dragonfly on.

I blended three distress inks, Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed and Vintage Photo before splashing with water and drying. Then I did 2nd generation stamping around the edge with Lavinia Stamps Fern stamp and 1st generation black ink for the dragonfly. You can't really see the shine in the photo but to give a resin effect I Versamarked the whole tag and heat embossed with clear EP.

I stamped the dragonfly once in black ink on Neenah card and then again in black EP on heatproof acetate. These were coloured with alcohol ink pens using the palette blending method to get the range of colour from dark green to citrus yellow. The card wings were painted over with clear Wink of Stella, then attached to the acetate ones before adding to the tag with a few gems.

Can't wait to see what the others have done with the theme! Thank you for looking x

Ellie's Cupboard has a refit !

I knew the time would have to come............. I was dreading doing it............. but with the help of two strong young men, I did it.................................yes ladies, it's the craft room clear out!

With this awful grey weather and pouring rain I needed something to cheer me up and I'm afraid Ellie's Cupboard was in need of a major facelift -  it isn't called Ellie's Cupboard for nothing, how can such a small space (7' x 7') get into such a mess ?! Surrounded by piled up biscuit tins, sweetie boxes - even chinese takeaway boxes, all stacked up on old bathroom shelves and kitchen cupboards is not conducive to my creativity lol !

So last Monday I just thought, I can't work in here like this anymore - and so the clear out began. Prior to this house I had been using the dining table and wheelie plastic trollies - which is fine until somebody wants to sit down for dinner (darn nuisance!) so I think when we moved here I was just so grateful to get a craft room that it just got messier and messier because you know how we crafters just NEED more stuff !

Here are a couple of before photos to show you how bad it got. I was really getting to the stage where I couldn't find anything and to get to something I had to move one pile to another.

So with a special birthday coming up I decided to treat myself to a new room........

........ with a little help (more like a lot!) from family and friends here we have the new Ellie's Cupboard......a place for everything and everything in it's place.

Well better get some crafting done then, what....did I hear someone say it's Valentines Day this week? Oh lawdy lawdy, I'd better get a shift on!!

This month's challenge is 'Lilac or Blue or Both', so which is your favourite colour or do you like them both? I couldn't make my mind up so did one of each in two different styles, a blue clean and simple and a lilac fussy and fancy........mmm, I used to be indecisive now I'm not so sure :-).
